As I was finishing up spaghetti tonight, it happened.
Aidan said spaghetti!! I am so tickled because of two reasons:
- It is my favorite meal and,
- I realized what he was saying!
Sometimes it takes some thinking over for me to get what he is saying, but not tonight.
He said it clear as day: “puh geh-geh”
I love it!!!!!
Aidan has learned to climb up onto the couch!! He started doing it this weekend and last night he tried climbing up on the back of the couch to be in the window sill.
He still hasn’t had any new teeth come in. I’m hoping that they come in within the next week. I think the reason he has been grabbing his ears and pushing against them with his fists is because he has an earache. Mike insists on keeping the little fan pointed on him, just a few feet from his head. I think that’s what’s going on, so I adjusted it so it just cirulates the air over his bead. Hopefully soon our ductwork will be installed. I think Mike may have to do it himself so we can actually enjoy it over the summer. (and have relief from this heat)
It never ceases to amaze me how quickly my son is learning and picking up on new things. He is starting to mimick Mike and I almost immediately.
He will now wave at you when you say hi or bye bye. He will also say, “Huh?!” if you say something to him. Mike thinks he got that from him because he’s always saying it since he doesn’t hear so well. lol
I mentioned last week that he started licking his lips. His new variation of this is that he will stick his tongue out against his lower lip, like he’s making big lips. It’s so funny.
I have yet to replace Aidan’s rug, but am going to tomorrow. I’m excited about it. I don’t know why, because I’m getting the exact same one. No big deal.
My cutie patootie eating his first spaghetti noodles:
And just last week I was whining about not getting any sleep.
Last night I put Aidan to bed around 7:30pm. Normally he takes his last nap around this time. I hadn’t given him his dinner nor his bath. It was going on 9:30pm and I was wondering if I should wake him up. I was afraid he’d wake up starving at 1am or something.
Well, I decided it was best that I go to sleep so that if he does wake up like that, I’ll be rested enough.
I woke up this morning when my husband’s alarm went off around 6am. Aidan was still asleep!!! He slept for about 11 hours!!!! It would have been longer had my husband not woke him up trying to cover him back up. I won’t complain, though!!
I received another pamphlet/booklet from Nestle: Very Best Baby. They always send coupons for formula and helpful info. This time they sent info on how much and what baby should be eating from 9-12 months. I have been trying to find an example of a meal for a while now.
Now I know.
I also know that at this time in their live, baby needs 9 TIMES more calcium and iron than an adult male!!!!!
In this, they recommended that I start on the Good Start 2 formula because it provides that. We also started adding new foods to his diet: cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt and crackers. We had started giving him teething biscuits a couple of weeks ago and he’s just now getting used to them. He doesn’t like the cheese and I’m giving him cottage cheese today, so we’ll see how that goes. He loves the yogurt!
I’m excited about feeding him new things!! It makes me feel even more like a mom. I like that he relies on me to cut up his food and feed him good things. I can tell that he’s excited about it, despite the semi-sour faces he makes when he tries that first bite.
Being a mom has been the best experience ever. I am glad that I am able to live a healthy, happy life with my wonderful family.
Today Aidan and I went and played on his rug – as usual – and I decided that it was time for him to start learning/practicing how to pull himself up.
I put him in his crib and he immediately started doing it as if he’s done it for a while now. Hmmm…..maybe when I think he’s going to sleep, he’s secretly practicing new ways to make mommy smile!!!
He has also learned that knobs pull things open. He can open the kitchen cabinets (but they bump into his car stroller) and he opened his drawer in his room while crawling around. He then tried to grab the sides to keep pulling, but leaned into it and pinched one of his fingers. Ouch!
So, he can now pull up, but can’t sit up from a laying position.
Another development I’ve noticed is that when I’m changing his outfit, I let him play with something to keep him occupied and to keep him from pitching a fit. Well, when I’m trying to put his arms through, he knows to switch the item from hand-to-hand so I can do this!!
My baby rocks!
