Wave hello!

It never ceases to amaze me how quickly my son is learning and picking up on new things. He is starting to mimick Mike and I almost immediately.

He will now wave at you when you say hi or bye bye. He will also say, “Huh?!” if you say something to him. Mike thinks he got that from him because he’s always saying it since he doesn’t hear so well. lol

I mentioned last week that he started licking his lips. His new variation of this is that he will stick his tongue out against his lower lip, like he’s making big lips. It’s so funny.

I have yet to replace Aidan’s rug, but am going to tomorrow. I’m excited about it. I don’t know why, because I’m getting the exact same one. No big deal.

Crib question.

I had read to not use a bumper pad around your baby’s crib because they could roll into it and suffocate. And when baby is old enough to pull himself up in his crib, you should not have a bumper pad because they could use it as leverage to go over the rail.

Anyone else take heed to these warnings? Anyone encountered problems with their bumper pads? I’m open to all feedback.

I can understand what they are warning, I’m just curious if anyone has had these problems.

Another thing about cribs:

Simplicity’s 3-in-1 style cribs (or 4-in-1 – whatever) are being recalled because the side that drops is malfunctioning and dropping easily. If I can find the info, I’ll post it. Mine is a simplicity, but not the model number (of many) being recalled. I will get the 800 number as well tomorrow so you can call and check.

Hooray for sleep!

And just last week I was whining about not getting any sleep.

Last night I put Aidan to bed around 7:30pm. Normally he takes his last nap around this time. I hadn’t given him his dinner nor his bath. It was going on 9:30pm and I was wondering if I should wake him up. I was afraid he’d wake up starving at 1am or something.

Well, I decided it was best that I go to sleep so that if he does wake up like that, I’ll be rested enough.

I woke up this morning when my husband’s alarm went off around 6am. Aidan was still asleep!!! He slept for about 11 hours!!!! It would have been longer had my husband not woke him up trying to cover him back up. I won’t complain, though!!

Yum yum! Nutrition!

I received another pamphlet/booklet from Nestle: Very Best Baby. They always send coupons for formula and helpful info. This time they sent info on how much and what baby should be eating from 9-12 months. I have been trying to find an example of a meal for a while now.

Now I know.

I also know that at this time in their live, baby needs 9 TIMES more calcium and iron than an adult male!!!!!

In this, they recommended that I start on the Good Start 2 formula because it provides that. We also started adding new foods to his diet: cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt and crackers. We had started giving him teething biscuits a couple of weeks ago and he’s just now getting used to them. He doesn’t like the cheese and I’m giving him cottage cheese today, so we’ll see how that goes. He loves the yogurt!

I’m excited about feeding him new things!! It makes me feel even more like a mom. I like that he relies on me to cut up his food and feed him good things. I can tell that he’s excited about it, despite the semi-sour faces he makes when he tries that first bite.

Being a mom has been the best experience ever. I am glad that I am able to live a healthy, happy life with my wonderful family.

What happened with the Halloween spirit??

Tonight we went over to Mike’s parent’s old house to visit briefly. We showed off Aidan in his Devil outfit….he was so wickedly cute!! (I’ll post pics later)

We got back home so we could have out the treats to the trick-or-treaters. Well, it took a while for anyone to show up. We got back around 8pm. I was beginning to think that they were done.  Finally we got our first kiddos. They were tweens. And they were rude tweens: they never even said “trick or treat?” Plus they had grocery bags.

I let that slide….but I did complain to Mike. Well, our second set of tweens/kids were no better. The first one was fine, then the girl walked up and was on the phone and never said one word to me, just held out her bag.

I only had 3 rounds of kids come and the last one was a joy. It was a large family or group and there were several little kids that were oh-so-cute and they all said “trick or treat?!” with such enthusiasm, then politely said thank you when all was said and done.

That made my night. I kept my door open until 10 and that was it. 2 years ago I had a ton of kids!! I think I just started late this year. 😦
